Blindstamp on title page, double frontispiece of six chromolithographed skyscapes, ‘Twilight and afterglow effects at Chelsea, London, Nov 26^th 1883’ (one month after eruption). 1 other colour lithograph, 39 b/w plates (23 folding) of maps and graphs of pumice travel, tidal waves, sound effects. Text age-toned, but clean, unmarked. A major scientific analysis of a supervolcanic eruption. Rare. In good condition.
