The surviving symbol of a cancelled supersonic era. This 1:72 scale diecast model represents the BAC TSR-2 XR220, currently preserved as the most complete surviving airframe at the RAF Museum Cosford. Originally intended to be the second prototype to take to the skies, XR220’s maiden flight was famously scheduled for April 6th, 1965 the very same day the British government announced the shock cancellation of the entire TSR-2 project. While its sister ship XR219 was tragically scrapped, XR220 was saved from the furnaces, eventually finding its home in Shropshire as a permanent reminder of Britain's ambitious leap into Mach 2 tactical strike technology.

This Aviation Archive release is a cornerstone for any collection focusing on British aviation prototypes or "Cold War what-ifs." Capturing the futuristic "all-white" anti-flash finish and the complex lines of this ill-fated interceptor, the model is an ideal centerpiece for displays exploring the height of 1960s aeronautical design and the political drama that ultimately grounded the project.
